Andrew Welcomes over £1.9 Million in Government Grants for Flood Defences

Local MP Andrew Percy and has welcomed a £1.9 Million Coalition Government grant to help with flood defences in the region. The grant is made up of £131,400 for North Lincolnshire Council and £162,400 for the East Riding in 2011/12 rising to £206,600 and £346,400 respectively in 2012/13 and thereafter until at least the end of the spending review in 2014/15. Last week was a tough week. There was a vote on raising tuition fees and I wrestled with what is, to me, a very important issue. I voted against the rise as I did not believe the Government had won the argument. Brigg & Goole MP Andrew Percy met with representatives of Natural England last Friday to discuss the future of the Goole and Thorne Moor, a designated National Nature Reserve. The site is of national importance and was last visited by Andrew during the recent fire which damaged a large section of Goole Moor.
