Fighting for Financial Education in Schools

This week I have taken up the role of Education Officer in the new All Party Parliamentary Group on Financial Education for Young People. I’ll be using my teaching knowledge to develop ideas as to how financial education can best fit into the school curriculum.   At the group launch I met Martin Lewis (pictured) of moneysavingexpert.com who has supported the group’s formation.   Debt is an everyday part of life now and it is frankly a disgrace that we expect our young people to leave school kn...

This means, from today, everyone can see exactly what crime is happening and where - right down to the level of their street corner.  If anyone has concerns about the crime they see or how issues are dealt with, they can raise them with the police.   Under Labour the...

School Visits

I was in school twice on Friday with visits to Baysgarth School, Barton and St Mary’s Primary in Brigg. The Government has provided money for school sports but it isn’t yet clear how this will affect the future of the partnerships. I left with some questions to put to the Education Department. I then moved on to St Mary’s in Brigg where I met wit...
