Bon Marche Opens in Goole

Earlier this week I attended the opening of yet another new store in Goole. This time it was the turn of Bon Marche who have opening up a great store in the precinct. The unit they have moved in to was vacated by Ethel Austin earlier this year and in the intervening period served no purpose except to be a cracking poster site for my election posters! However, Bon Marche is a much better use for this store and it is great that they have invested in Goole.

I don’t seem to be able to keep away from educational establishments at the moment, it must be withdrawal symptoms at the beginning of term. As well as Goole College last week, I have also been to visit the Vale of Ancholme School in Brigg and Goole High School in recent days. Burton Tank Ramp!

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of attending the Burton Heritage Group’s BBQ at the tank ramp on the banks of the Trent. This area was used in World War 2 to develop solutions to crossing the Rhine and there a great deal of secret work went on in and around Burton. It was my privilege to open the extension to Goldcrest House in Goole last Friday. This home provides a safe environment for adults with severe learning difficulties and autism. This was one of those visits that you really enjoy and that makes being an MP really worthwhile.
