Disabled Toilet Fixed!

Good news on the disabled toilets at Escourt Street in Goole. I've now had a second letter confirming the works that have been completed to improve the toilets for disabled users. The concerns were originally raised by users and supported by Goole Councillor Jean Kitching and Snaith, Airmyn and Rawcliffe Ward Councillor Caroline Fox. I had a fairly long discussion with the Environment Agency on Friday to discuss what seemed to be pretty much every river and flood protection issue in the constituency. In particular we discussed the future of the Isle of Axholme Flood Risk Management Strategy. Following our long campaign, supported by the drainage board, we managed to get the protection policy for the Isle upgraded recently but we still need more assurances. Goole MP Andrew Percy and East Riding Councillor, Caroline Fox, have launched a petition against the proposed closure of Goole Magistrates. The move comes following a high profile campaign by local MP Andrew Percy who won a parliamentary debate on the proposed closure in early July. The petition comes in the same week that Andrew Percy won a promise from the Justice Minister for a face to face meeting to discuss the closure in more detail. Andrew Percy has launched a petition against proposals which could see parking charges levied on the Estcourt Street and Leisure Centre car parks in Goole. If the plans are agreed, it would mean that the car parks will be free for the first half hour and after that be subject to a charge of 50p for an hour's stay and 70p for every additional hour after that.
