Whitgift and Airmyn Summer Fairs

Whitgift and Airmyn Summer Fairs

The glorious sunshine is making this year's summer fairs and galas an absolute joy to attend. There is nothing like a cream tea in the sunshine surrounded by fantastic local residents. I've been asked to open quite a few of these this year including the Whitgift Chirch fete where I am pictured with the show Queen and her attendants.   Whitgift is a beautiful church which is famed for its 13 o' clock that was apparently used as a navigational tool by the Germans in World War 2. It is well wo...

Crowle Market Place and Winterton Show

Crowle Market Place and Winterton Show

I had a great time at the Winterton Show last Sunday with the weather helping to bring out what looked like record numbers of visitors. I had never seen the show car park so busy!   We had our usual stand at the show and I seemed to spend my whole day shaking hands with people who wanted to say well done and congratulations etc. I was surprised how many people had come from other parts of the constituency and I also managed to pick up a lot more casework too. The photo shows me at the Fe...

One Small Step ...

One Small Step ...

I managed to fulfil one of my ambitions this week by getting to meet a real life astronaut. The crew of the space shuttle Atlantis visited the House of Commons after completing a tour of UK schools where they have been speaking to try to encourage kids to take an interest in maths and science.   The presence of a space shuttle crew on the terrace caused quite a stir, especially as they were in their blue NASA suits. I spent some time chatting with astronaut Garrett Reisman who when questio...

Andrew Percy MP says, “It’s important to remain positive about these new toilets as the facilities a...

Andrew Lobbies Network Rail on Wind Farm Access

Local MP Andrew Percy recently met with the developers of the Keadby Wind farm, RES Ltd, to discuss progress on plans to open up an access for construction traffic off the A18.   Andrew Percy says, “Getting this alternative route agreed seems to be taking for ages but I am assured that progress is on-going, even if the wheels are moving a little more slowly than we would like. The main issue of course is securing the agreement of Network Rail for the construction of a bridge over their r...

Visiting the Lowther.

Visiting the Lowther.

Long delay in posts but we are still trying to get sorted with the offices. Everything takes for ever in Parliament!   Anyways, I was delighted to be asked to visit the Lowther by Julie and Howard Duckworth recently to view the renovation of this really important historic building. I was fascinated by the 19th century murals on the wall which it is thought show the original blue print for Goole. They are well worth a look at and I pay tribute to Julie and Howard for the way they have restor...
