Andrew has provided the following update regarding airlines and travel companies refusing to refund consumers for flights and holidays:
As residents may remember, I recently raised, in the House of Commons, the issue of airlines and travel companies refusing to refund consumers for flights and holidays: http://www.andrewpercy.org/news/1882-holiday-and-flight-cancellations
Since then, I have been communicating further on this issue with the consumer rights group Which? and am pleased to have added my name to a cross-party letter on this issue to the Aviation Minister. The letter calls on the Government to clarify the rights of passengers whose holidays have been affected by coronavirus. The protections linked to refund credit notes must be clear so that passengers are confident that their money is protected.
I have also once again copied links below to both the websites for Which? and the Money Saving Expert, which provide some useful advice on your rights and what you can do.
In addition, the Competition and Markets Authority are investigating these matters so it may be useful to also use this reporting tool to give government agencies ideas of trends relating to particular businesses: https://www.coronavirus-business-complaint.service.gov.uk/
I will be sure to keep residents updated with any further information on this issue.
