Brigg Holocaust Memorial Day Event

Andrew atteneded the Holocaust Memorial Day Event in Brigg last Friday - an opportunity to remember the 6 million Jewish poeple, and others, who were murdered in the Holocaust.

Andrew reports, *"It was a pleasure to join with fellow members of the local Jewish community, Brigg Town Council, Holly Mumby-Croft MP, students from Sir John Nelthorpe School and religious leaders to hold an short service at the Brigg Holocaust Memorial on Friday.

"We were able to say a few words, offer a prayer and hear readings from those present to remember the 6 million Jews murdered in the Holocaust as well as those murders from other groups. Holocaust Memorial Day is also a time for us to reflect on genocides such as Rwanda and Bosnia.

"We had to change the plans for this year's Holocaust Memorial Day event which should have been held today due to some specific concerns. Whilst this is sad, it was important that we were able to hold a service all the same.

"My thanks to the Police for their advice and support. It is however sad that on two occasions the memorial has been the subject of vandalism since the conflict in the middle east, started by Hamas' butchery and savagery commenced. Targeting a Holocaust memorial is particularly sick.

"Thank you to everyone who attended and took part in this event.""*
