Goole Leisure Centre £17 Million Upgrade

Andrew has provided an update on the Goole Leisure Centre upgrade.

Andrew said, *"I am delighted that all the plans have now been passed for the upgrade of the Goole Leisure Centre. This is being made possible thanks to the funding I secured from the Conservative government as part of our Town Deal and thanks to funding from East Riding Council, led of course by Goole North Cllr, Anne Handley.

The preparatory works had already commenced but final approval of the plans is now complete. The upgrade will include the addition of a learner pool (making the main pool available more), a six lane bowling alley, new health suite, improved gym and fitness facilities, Tag Active, sensory area, new café and more besides.

The library will also move into this new 'Goole Hub' enabling expanded borrowing hours. I know not everyone supported the move of the library but this is the best way of retaining a library for the years to come. The works will take through to the summer of 2025 meaning I will have long departed as our MP before the new facility opens. I will however, be wishing it well.

I appreciate the closure of the leisure centre during this time is annoying. A bus connection to Axholme Leisure Centre (just over the border in Crowle) will allow swimming at the pool there during this period. As an aside, the Axholme Leisure Centre and pool is another project I secured the funding for along with North Lincs Conservative Councillors (no apologies for the not so humble brag!)""*
