Andrew attended a visit last Friday to discuss the new National Flood Resilience Centre which will be based in Scunthorpe.
Andrew reports, "For some time now, myself and North Lincs Council have been supporting efforts by Humberside Fire Service and the University of Hull to secure funding for this new National Flood Resilience Centre which would be based in Scunthorpe.
"With climate change resulting in more extreme weather, we have seen increased flooding locally and nationally and this centre would help to train responders in dealing with these incidents. It would also be used to test new technology and is much needed at a national level.
"Good news came this week, when Cllr Rob Waltham, Leader of the Conservative-led North Lincs Council, confirmed that the Council would make land available for this project at no cost. On Friday, Holly Mumby-Croft MP and I met with the various stakeholders on site to celebrate this fact! We are now continuing our efforts to secure Government funding.
"Having a national centre located here in North Lincs would be a good boost for the area."
