Local charities’ and voluntary groups are celebrating local volunteers as part of Volunteers Week (June 1-7).
Volunteers, who include trustees, campaigners, carers and fundraisers to name a few, play a major role in their local communities. Volunteers’ Week is the perfect opportunity to thank them for their hard work and positive contributions.
Almost 12 million people volunteer at least once a month in the UK. Fundraising and the running of events are the most popular volunteering activities. Sports organizations and groups, followed closely by hobby and social clubs, are the most popular places to volunteer.
Andrew adds, “11.9 million people volunteered once a month last year, and there are over 166,000 organizations in the UK that rely on volunteers.
“I am delighted that this week is Volunteers’ Week, and happy to know that we are recognizing and celebrating those who volunteer their time and effort.”
