The 11th National Apprenticeship week is taking place between 5th – 9th March this week.
This is a week-long celebration for apprenticeships and for encouraging people to choose apprenticeships as a first step towards building a valuable new career. Apprenticeships allow people to earn while they learn, and they open doors to highly skilled, rewarding careers.
Andrew adds, "In 2016/17 there were 950 apprenticeship starts in in our area, 6460 since 2010, and over 1.2 million new apprenticeship starts nationally since 2015. Take up of higher-level apprenticeships in 2016-17 was up by nearly 35 per cent compared to 2015 -16.
"The Government is also working with industry to deliver 3 million new apprenticeship starts by 2020 in order to ensure our country develops the skilled workforce we need."
