Disabled Toilet Fixed!

Disabled Toilet Fixed!

Good news on the disabled toilets at Escourt Street in Goole. I've now had a second letter confirming the works that have been completed to improve the toilets for disabled users. The concerns were originally raised by users and supported by Goole Councillor Jean Kitching and Snaith, Airmyn and Rawcliffe Ward Councillor Caroline Fox.   Caroline and I went down to see the problems for ourselves with one of the users (see photo). I then took it up with Cllr Ros Jump who is responsible for th...

Environment Agency Meeting

Environment Agency Meeting

I had a fairly long discussion with the Environment Agency on Friday to discuss what seemed to be pretty much every river and flood protection issue in the constituency. In particular we discussed the future of the Isle of Axholme Flood Risk Management Strategy. Following our long campaign, supported by the drainage board, we managed to get the protection policy for the Isle upgraded recently but we still need more assurances.   I also discussed the Aire and Ouse Flood Catchment Plans and ...

It is hoped that the petition will be available...

Out and About

I had a fantastic weekend out and about in the constituency. Friday night we had a joint dinner with the Cleethorpes constituency at Elsham Golf Club where our guest speaker was Martin and mine's predecessor in the old constituency of Brigg and Cleethorpes.   Saturday I started at the Sobriety Project in Goole where I was asked to kick off the celebration for the 100th birthday of the vessel Sobriety which used to chug up and down our local waterways before it was donated about 25 years ag...

Andrew Demands Apology for Labour Slur on Help for Port Jobs

Local MP Andrew Percy has demanded an apology from a senior Labour Shadow Minister for condemning the Coalition government’s help for port business as ‘pork-barelling’. The comments were made by Shadow Secretary of State for Local Government, John Denham MP, during questions to Local Government Minister Bob Neill MP.   Andrew Percy says, “I was absolutely disgusted at what John Denham said and his comments are a real slur on the hard working businesses and workers at the port. Andrew Percy MP │ Goole Fire Station Cuts

Latest Update - At their meeting on April 11th, Councillors of all parties on the Humberside Fire Authority decided to defer a final decision on the proposed cuts for three months. This was to allow time for further information to be gathered before a final decision is taken. Andrew and the local Conservatives are continuing to campaign against the cuts and will keep local residents fully updated.     The Humberside Fire Authority have gone out to consultation on proposals to reduce the c...

Andrew Percy MP │ Fairer Fuel Taxes

Pictured left: Andrew and David Davis campaigning for a fairer deal for motorists Since Labour came to power in 1997, car-related taxes have risen 50% with the average driver now paying about £1,800 a year in taxes related to driving! Rising fuel prices mean that the Government has received £115 million pound EXTRA in VAT due to the rising price of fuel at the pump. Fuel prices are a big part of the huge rise in the cost of living. The average family this year is £400 worse off thanks to...
