The Department for Transport are running a competition for community groups to win a Pacer train carriage for conversion into a public space, for whatever community use they can think of.
Andrew explains, “With new and refurbished trains arriving across the Northern network, Pacer trains are being phased out after more than three decades of service. Although nobody in our area will miss the Pacers, this competition ensures that these old carriages can now serve communities in a new and innovative way.”
The competition is open to charities, charitable incorporated organisations, community interest companies, sports clubs, educational establishments, social enterprises, non-profit organisations and any community groups located in Yorkshire and the Humber, the North East England and North West England only.
The deadline for entries is: 30 September 2019.
