Andrew Supports Launch of New 105 Power Cut Number

Andrew Supports Launch of New 105 Power Cut Number

Local MP Andrew Percy is backing the launch of a new number that aims to support local residents if they experience a power cut. Many people don’t know who to contact during a power cut and often wrongly call the electricity supplier they pay their bill to. 105 has been set up to help people get through their local electricity network operator – the company responsible for the network that delivers electricity to their door. It is a free, easy-to-remember number that people can call to report or...

Goole and District Mariners Service

Goole and District Mariners Service

Yesterday, Andrew attended the Goole and District Mariners service at the Mariners Memorial Gardens in Goole. Andrew says, "I was really pleased to be able to attend this service on Sunday and delighted to see such a good turnout. This year had a special focus on the Goole mariners lost in the Battle of Jutland, with 2016 marking 100 years since this significant naval battle. It's important to commemorate the sacrifices made and I would like to thank everyone involved in organising this service....

Defibrillator Update – North Lincolnshire

Andrew has welcomed the continued work to roll-out lifesaving defibrillators across North Lincolnshire, with the majority of local towns and villages now having their own public access defibrillator (PAD) in place, with most being accessible 24/7. Andrew worked with North Lincolnshire Council Leader, Baroness Redfern, and other local Councillors to secure £75,000 for these defibrillators to be placed across North Lincolnshire. Andrew has jointly chaired an action group on this roll-out, and has ...

Goole Subway Drainage Update

Goole Subway Drainage Update

Andrew has continued to work closely with Network Rail and East Riding of Yorkshire Council to secure the necessary investment in Goole’s subways. Users of the subways are currently forced to walk on the road when the subways flood, or travel a significant distance to reach their destination. Andrew led a campaign for these improvements and met regularly with Network Rail to push for works to resolve flooding in the subways. Earlier this year, Network Rail agreed to invest £40,000 into the subwa...

New Community Bus Scheme Launches in North Lincolnshire

Andrew has welcomed the new community bus service, CallConnect, which commenced service locally in July. The new service has been funded thanks to a grant of £350,000 from the Conservative Government, and it is part of a wider funding package to improve transport across North Lincolnshire. North Lincolnshire is split into five areas for CallConnect; with Brigg and Goole falling into the following areas: Barton, Burton upon Stather and Winterton (Area 1); Isle of Axholme (Area 2); Brigg, Caistor ...

Flood Improvement Works in East Yorkshire

Flood Improvement Works in East Yorkshire

Andrew has worked hard for many years to get improvements to local flood defences and drainage systems across the Goole and Snaith area, to tackle local flood risk. Andrew is continuing to work closely with the Environment Agency as they undertake works to improve local flood defences and carry out modelling for future works, and the previous Conservative-led Government provided £86 million of funding for projects locally, aimed at improving flood protection to over 50,000 properties around the ...

Yorkshire Water Update for Goole

Yorkshire Water Update for Goole

Andrew has continued to press for action for further improvements to the drainage system in Goole, following flooding events in the town.  A Flood Risk Management Plan is being drawn up for the town, with East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Yorkshire Water working together to address flooding concerns. Yorkshire Water has already invested almost £4 million at their Carr Lane pumping station as a result. Whilst the wider strategy is being developed, Yorkshire Water and East Riding of Yorkshire C...

Andrew Supports Stay Safe Campaign this Summer

Andrew is supporting the Stay Safe campaign this summer, which is aimed at raising awareness of water safety during the school summer holidays and the warmer weather. The campaign, which is led by the Mineral Products Association (MPA), also supports similar campaigns by the RNLI and the Fire and Rescue Services at this time of year, and asks people to share the message ‘Stay Safe, Stay Out of Quarries’ as well as other dangerous sites, such as fast flowing or deep water.   On average, there are...

Defibrillator Update – East Yorkshire

Defibrillator Update – East Yorkshire

Andrew is delighted to announce that even more locations in our area now have public access defibrillators (PADs), with PADs now available and ready for use in Swinefleet, Reedness and Gowdall. These locations now join the majority of communities across our local area in ensuring that these vital pieces of lifesaving equipment are available for use, just in case. Andrew says, “When someone goes into cardiac arrest, every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces their chances of survival by ...

The sessions are every day at The Pods, Ancholme Leisure Centre, Baysgarth Leisure Centre and Riddings Pool, and children can swim for free when the ‘Summer Daze’ sessions...
