Work Starts on New £800,000 Isle Sports Village

Andrew is delighted to report that grassroots sport on the Isle of Axholme recently received a major boost with work starting on the new 3G artificial grass pitch and changing room pavilion at South Axholme Academy.

The project has been made possible thanks to a grant of £450,000 from the Premier League and the FA Facilities Fund, as well as over £200,000 from North Lincolnshire’s Conservative-run Council.

Andrew reports, “This is a project we are very proud to have helped fund. The current facilities are not suitable for community use, so this funding will enable the school to open the site up for non-school users too. It will also provide a permanent home for Epworth Colts.”

Cllr Liz Redfern adds, “This is a very exciting project bringing high-quality facilities to the Isle. We also hope it will encourage more people to get involved in sport, both in and out of school. We would like to congratulate everyone involved in securing this investment.”
