Royal Mail have informed Andrew that they will be introducing their new parcel postboxes to our area.
Andrew reports, "Parcel postboxes will enable local small businesses and markletplace sellers to post pre-paid parcels, using Click&Drop, through postboxes in the same way that we currently post letters. Moreover, they state that they also allow customers to post some barcoded returns parcels back at any time, seven days a week.
"The first phase of the launch will see pre-existing meter postboxes, which include a wider aperture and secure design for mailing larger items, converted to accept small and medium size parcels. Royal Mail explain that this innovation will make it both safe and convenient for people to use. They informed me that there are two meter postboxes on Aire Street, DN14 5BH and on Larsen Road, DN14 6XF that will be converted.
"Following this initial launch, Royal Mail will consider adapting and updating other postboxes to the parcel postbox format."
