Register Your Defib With The Circuit – The National Defibrillator Network

Andrew has been contacted by the British Heart Foundation to help raise awareness of their new national defibrillator database called The Circuit – The National Defibrillator Network.

Andrew reports, "The British Heart Foundation (BHF), Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK) St John Ambulance and Association of Ambulance Chief Executives (AACE), are urging people who look after defibrillators across our area (in places such as offices, communities, shopping centres and leisure centres, as well as in other public places,) to register them on this database.

"As residents who follow me will know, I have helped raise money for, and secured, dozens of public access defibrillators across our area. As a First Responder myself, I know first-hand how incredibly important it is to be ready and prepared in the event of a cardiac arrest.

"It is currently estimated that only 30,000 defibrillators are known to the ambulance services, but there are at least 100,000 in the UK in total. This new initiative will help find the additional 70,000 defibrillators, so that we can improve survival rates from out-of-hospital cardiac arrests.

"The Circuit maps out the location of defibrillators across the UK so ambulance services can direct people to them in an emergency. Registering one takes less than 10 minutes but could mean the difference between life and death."
