Read with your Children During Time to Read Week

This week saw the return of the BookTrust's annual Time to Read campaign, where families are encouraged to read with their children. Time to Read Week is an opportunity to celebrate the importance of reading together.

During the week, a range of online activities bring families together from communities across the country, inspiring them to continue reading with children at this crucial time in their lives.

Andrew adds, "As residents may be aware, I set up two Imagination Library schemes in the Brigg and Goole constituency - the Goole and Snaith Imagination Library and the North Lincolnshire Imagination Library. The Imagination Library is a free book gifting scheme where a child receives a book every month in the post until their 5th birthday.

"I brought this scheme to our area due to my time as a schoolteacher, where I saw first-hand the importance of reading at an early age for a child’s development, and to eliminate cost from being a barrier to a child enjoying books.

"Studies show that children who are read to at home in their early years are more likely to become high achievers at the end of primary school. There is still time to get involved with this campaign, so please do read to your children and make the most of Time to Read Week."
