Prime Minister's Questions - Flood Defence Funding

On Wednesday, Andrew was chosen to ask a question to the Prime Minister during Prime Minister's Questions, which you can see online here: https://www.facebook.com/andrewpercyofficial

Andrew provided an update on Facebook following his question to the PM:

As I mentioned, I was drawn in the ballot for PMQs this week and raised the issue of flood defence funding. I referenced the flooding on the Aire last year but the specifics of my question were on the broader way in which flood defence funding is allocated and how it is managed.

My aim really was just to put on record again the need for some changes in the way funding is allocated and which bodies can receive it to deliver schemes. As a government we are doubling flood defence funding and have changed the partnership funding rules to enable more schemes to qualify, but it remains a lengthy process.

The Prime Minister answered in reference to the Humber which I should say from a flood management perspective means the tidal rivers Aire, Ouse and Trent too as they are all being looked at under the broader Humber Flood Management Catchment Plan which covers the tidal tributaries too of the broader Humber catchment.
