Heavy Rainfall Warning - Important Info

Andrew has provided an update on the heavy rainfall expected to hit the cosnituency this week.

Andrew explained on Facebook:

Heavy rainfall is expected in the course of the next 48-60 hours from the early hours of Tuesday morning. This will be falling on land that is already sodden and is being added to by snow melt in the upper catchment meaning there is a concern about the possibility of flooding. This water will be hitting tides which are lower than we had back last year which is obviously helpful.

The impact on the Ouse, Aire, Trent and Don catchments is not clear yet and a clearer picture should emerge tomorrow when the impact in the upper catchment of our river systems is known.
I have been in communication with a number of agency's in this matter throughout the day including the Environment Agency. The Council, as lead Flood Authority, has met with multi-agency partners today and resources have been put on standby.

For now residents should be prepared, stay alert and follow any flood warnings or alerts that are issued. We do not know whether this will cause issues but we have to take this seriously and prepare now.
I will be keeping residents informed the best I can and I am keeping in close contact with the agencies and will continue to pressure them to take all steps possible to prepare for any issues later in the week.
As I say, we should have a clearer picture tomorrow.
