Goole Town Centre Funding Bid Update

Residents may remember that Andrew recently reported about the new £675 million Future High Streets Fund set up by the Government. The fund aims to help struggling town centres by providing funding to help transform and regenerate those town centres.

Andrew explains, "I thought residents would be interested to know that I have this week formally supported the application being submitted for Goole by the East Rising Council. The East Riding was entitled to two applications but the Council has decided to prioritise Goole and just submit the one application.

"There will be a lot of competition for funding but if successful, it is expected that towns will get between £5-10 million pounds each for their projects.

"I am hoping that Goole's bid will be very strong because of the other investments taking place locally such as Siemens and the new housing off Rawcliffe Road. These will hopefully strengthen our case for the funding.

"The town centre desperately needs investment and I can assure residents that I will do all I can to secure us this funding. There's a lot of competition for it but I'll do what I can!"
