Goole Leisure Centre Major Upgrade

Andrew has provided an update on Goole Leisure Centre's significant upgrade as part of the Conservative government's Town Deal funding for Goole.

Andrew reports, "Thanks to the Town Deal funding I secured for the town from the Government, Goole Leisure Centre will see a major upgrade of over £12 million starting next year.

"The consultation on the plans will commence shortly with proposed upgrades including a new learner pool, tag active, ten pin bowling, soft play area, customer service centre and relocated new library. There will also be a new food court and much more besides, which will all be inside an expanded footprint for the leisure centre.

"Myself and local Councillors Nick Coultish and Anne Handley are also pushing to have a sauna and steam room included but this will depend on additional funding opening up from one of the other town deal projects which we think is going to be delivered via a different route.

"Anyone wanting to view the plans and share their views can do so at the Leisure Centre on August 25th between 10am and 6pm.

"I am delighted that we are now starting to see the Goole Town Deal funding from the government starting to deliver projects for local residents. That funding means that we are able to deliver an upgrade to the Leisure Centre which goes beyond what would have been achievable with just the funding available from the East Riding Council.

"This is just the start of projects being delivered for the town via the Town Deal fund. Other projects currently being worked up include a major upgrade and refurbishment of the VPG, further works to the Market Hall, flood defence upgrades and projects to regenerate the town centre.

"The Town Deal Fund was introduced by the Conservative government to help support levelling up and to ensure that it is not just major cities which get regeneration funding."
