Goole College Visit

GC_07_SS

I was delighted to kick off the new term at Goole College last week. Myself and Cllr Paul Robinson met Elaine McMahon, the Chief Executive and College Principle, and David Caldicott, Centre Manager. The staff and students were all very welcoming.

We all sat down and had a very interesting conversation about many things including building links with local businesses. As a former teacher I was very interested in our discussions about student funding and adult education.

I am doing all I can to support the College. In particular I am interested in the work they are doing with local secondary schools where pupils are brought in to the college to use the facilities such as the wielding workshops. I think it is valuable that secondary school pupils get the experience of using college facilities as it can help them decide what they want to do after secondary school education.
