Funding Secured for Imagination Library

Andrew is delighted that North Lincolnshire Council has once again promised funding for the free book-gifting scheme in North Lincolnshire.

The Imagination Library was originally started by Dolly Parton to help improve literacy in pre-school children and the idea to launch the scheme locally came from Andrew, who secured funding from North Lincolnshire’s Conservative-run Council.  The scheme is available for children aged 0-5.

In 2015, 70% of five year olds in North Lincs were judged to have achieved a good level of development, compared to just 53% in 2013.

Andrew comments, “I know from my time as a teacher that children who regularly read with their parents before starting school do so much better and this scheme is already having a positive impact.

The Imagination Library is a fantastic opportunity for children and I’m very grateful to everyone involved and those who have supported us. Over 10,000 local children have benefited from the Imagination Library in North Lincs so far and this scheme is continuing to grow!

In the East Yorkshire part of the constituency we also have the Goole & Snaith Imagination Library, which we fundraise locally for, and I’m very proud of both schemes.”
