Crowle Peatland Railway - Funding Secured for New Tram

Further to Andrew’s recent post on the Crowle Peatland Railway project, we are pleased to report that £11,392 has been raised for the Railway to purchase a Lisbon tram.

Andrew reports, “The funding was secured by my Community Support Officer Julie Reed with cash from the SSE Keadby Windfarm. The new tram will ultimately run on this existing track, and first entered service in 1936, remaining in service for 50 years.

“The funding was secured on the commitment of 600 hours’ worth of volunteer time, which is now required to bring the tram back to its former glory.

“In addition, later this month the new visitors centre will arrive, which was funded by money secured by myself, Julie and Cllr John Briggs through the Conservative-run North Lincolnshire Council’s enhanced communities fund. This building is modular and will be installed and connected, being available in the new year as a visitor centre.

“Once again, I would like to thank the volunteers and everyone involved for their continued work on this fantastic project.”
