Commemorations for the 45th Anniversary of the Nypro Chemical Plant Explosion

A memorial service will take place at All Saints Church, Flixborough on the 1st June to commemorate the 45th Anniversary of the Nypro chemical plant explosion, which took place on Saturday 1st June 1974.

Andrew says, "All Saints Church in Flixborough is the home of the memorial to the 28 men who sadly died during this devastating explosion. This year marks the 45th anniversary of this tragedy, which will be marked with a service at the church. The service will commence at 4pm and will last approximately 1 hour, coinciding with the time of the explosion: 4.56pm.

"Although this terrible disaster happened before I was born, it left an unforgettable mark on the local area. As a kid I remember my Mum telling me how she was on duty as a police officer the day it happened and how all hell let loose. Such a hugely tragic event and one that will never fade no matter how many years pass."
