Brigg Community Cinema Project

Andrew has provided the following update on the Brigg Community Cinema project.

Andrew explains, "As residents may remember, myself and the local team have raised money for a community cinema before in Crowle and we have now helped secured funding for one in Brigg!

"Via my 'Bid Writing Service' we helped secure a £1000 grant from the Town Council to cover the establishment costs of this project. Thanks to the volunteers on this project who are working really hard to set it up.

"The community cinema project sits with the aims of the Brigg Arts and Culture Centre (application for charity status in progress) which are as follows: “to….. maintain a centre to advance the public benefit from engagement with arts and culture, particularly among, but not limited to, young people, within the historically significant buildings at Sir John Nelthorpe School”.

"The community cinema will be open to all (subject to age certificate of the film being shown);  we hope to have at least one screening before the end of the current school term and monthly screenings from the start of the autumn term onwards.  The anticipated audience for each screening is approximately 100;  the venue can however seat up to 200 should the need arise. As well as providing entertainment and cultural opportunities to our community, the cinema will be an additional social venue for our town.  The historical buildings of the Sir John Nelthorpe school can be enjoyed by visitors to the community cinema.

"Local Councillors Rob Waltham and Carl Sherwood, who are supporting the project,  joined the Town Mayor in handing the cheque over recently. Well done all involved."
