Andrew attended an event in Parliament to see new, innovative technology which is being used to detect potential chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Andrew said, "It was great to meet with @healthyio1 (Healthy.io), @kidneycareuk (Kidney Care UK), @kidney_research (Kidney Research UK) & @NKF_UK (National Kidney Federation) in Parliament to discuss the work that is taking place to improve early detection of chronic kidney disease (CKD).
"I was informed of the importance of early detection of CKD. Testing is essential for detecting the disease early so that you can be given diet and lifestyle interventions and treatment to help avoid cardiovascular complications and progression to kidney failure and the need for dialysis or a transplant.
"I also had the opportunity to see, and try, some new testing technology used in the NHS to support early diagnosis. This new, non-invasive digital health testing technology allows you to test kidney function at home with your smartphone.
"Thank you to all the above for taking the time to discuss this important work."
