4R Environmental Permit Consultation

Andrew has been informed that the Environment Agency (EA) has started a further consultation on the environmental permit required to allow the 4R waste facility at Swinefleet. This is a separate requirement to the planning permission needed. The EA have now started this new consultation following their announcement that they are 'minded to approve' the permit.

The consultation began on the 17th August and concludes on 21 September 2020. Due to the impact of Covid-19, responses to the consultation can only be made electronically, which you can do by visiting the consultation website at https://consult.environment-agency.gov.uk/psc/dn14-8dt-4recycling-ltd-draft-decision, or by email to pscpublicresponse@environment-agency.gov.uk.

Anyone wishing to comment on the proposals is urged to read the documentation online to ensure that their comments follow the EA’s criteria. Those who are unable to make representation via the consultation website or by email should contact the Environment Agency on 03708 506 506.

Andrew adds, "As residents may be aware, I have met with the EA a number of times to raise concerns on this issue and to urge them to reject this permit application. This is obviously not good news; however, we must ensure as much opposition as possible is presented to this new consultation.

"In addition, residents may be aware of the 'Keep Me Rural' group who are fighting the 4R issue.  The Keep Me Rural group have sought legal advice and need financial support to continue this fight. As such, they have set up a “Go Fund Me” page for donations, to which I have already donated to help out. Please do donate whatever you can afford to keep the group going. You can find the website online here: www.gofundme.com/f/keep-me-rural"
