Ukrainian Ambassador Visits Goole

Further to Andrew's update regarding Goole making ambulances to assist the people of Ukraine, Andrew was delighted to welcome the Ukrainian Ambassador for a visit to Goole to see the ambulances.

Following the visit, Andrew said, "Absolute delight to welcome His Excellency the Ukrainian Ambassador to Goole today to see the ambulances we are producing for Ukraine at Venari O&H in Goole.

"The Ambassador was able to see the vehicles up close and also thank staff for their efforts. In his address to us, the Ambassador described the current situation and explained that, sadly, ambulances are not free from Putin's aggression. Him and his team were very moved by the effort and dedication of the team in the factory.

"A very special moment came for all of us when the Mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, spoke to us live from Kiev on video call to thank workers personally for their work. His words, in which he described the fight for liberty and his gratitude at Great Britain for our support, were very emotional.

"We are all so proud to have been involved in this project and we have relished the hard work it has meant over the past two to three weeks. There is more to do though!

"Thanks to Goole North Councillor, Anne Handley, from the Two Rivers Community Pantry who also kindly turned up with some snacks for the workers who are doing 24 hour shifts!

"Personally, I found the address from the Mayor very moving as we know it was coming from his bunker in Kyiv in a war zone. Equally moving were the three cheers and round of applause he got from the proud staff at Venari at the end of his call."
