Andrew has provided the following update on steel industry safeguards.
Andrew explained on Facebook, "Myself and Scunthorpe MP, Holly Mumby-Croft have been working intensively in the past few weeks to support the extension of UK Government safeguards for the steel industry which are designed to prevent cheaper foreign imports unfairly competing against our domestic steel.
"We have held many meetings on this in recent weeks and have pressed the Prime Minister personally to continue his strong support for the steel industry, most recently evidenced in the government's decision to extend support for the steel industry's high energy costs. The Prime Minister's personal intervention has been required to achieve this.
"The extension of the safeguards, as reported in the media today, will be excellent news for Scunthorpe. As with many issues, it is the behind the scenes intensive work which often results in these successes.
