Andrew has provided the following update on the public access defibrillator at South Park, Old Goole.
Andrew reports, "Great to see that the South Park public access defibrillator is now in place, ensuring we have another of this life-saving equipment available in Old Goole.
"As residents may recall, Yorkshire Ambulance Service offered me the defib and casing if I could find a suitable location. Town Cllr Nicola Vause was already fundraising for one in South Park and so, thanks to Cllr Anne Handley, drawing the dots together, we were able to agree the location and installation in South Park.
"These are such important pieces of equipment, especially where sport is being played. In an emergency a 999 call must be placed and the code will be issued to access the defibrillator.
"As I never fail to point out, the equipment can be used by anyone. You can't do any harm with it and it provides voice instructions on how to use it. It won't deliver a shock unless one is required and really the only damage you can do with it is dropping it on your foot!
"Well done to all involved."
