Snaith Housing Proposals Refused

Andrew has provided the following update on the recent Snaith housing proposals.

The East Riding Council Planning Committee yesterday unanimously rejected the proposal by Gladman Homes for 300 houses on land coming off Butt Lane, Snaith.

As residents will know from my recent update letter, we also have two applications in by Bellway Homes for development next to the Punton Walk development. Some of this is on land allocated for housing and I will continue to update residents as a decision is likely soon.

In terms of the Gladman Homes development refused yesterday, thanks go to Cllr Caroline Fox for attending to oppose the application. A letter from myself objecting was also read to the Committee and I want to also thanks residents for their strong opposition.

Cllr Liz Sargeantson, who sits on the Committee, moved refusal of the application which was inline with the advice from East Riding Planning Officers.

Obviously, Gladman have a right of appeal but I believe we have very strong grounds to defend any such appeal, not least the fact that most of the development was outside of the development zone. In addition, Highways England, East Riding Highways, Yorkshire Water and the Environment Agency also raised concerns about this proposal.

As such, we have strong grounds to defend any appeal.
