School IT Funding Boost

Andrew recently visited Reedness Primary School for the handover of a £1000 cheque to help the school purchase new IT equipment.

Andrew reports, "Reedness Primary is such a lovely small school and I know schools of this size can sometimes miss out on funding compared to larger school. That is why I was delighted to be able to link the school with SSE, who fund so many good causes locally. I really appreciate their consideration of this request and I hope that pupils will now benefit from this new equipment."

Headteacher at Reedness Primary, Liam Jackson, said, "Last Friday, we were delighted to welcome to school, Jade Fearon from Keady Power Station 2 and our MP, Andrew Percy.

“I had previously contacted Andrew to see if there was any support out there that could help our small school of just 33 children obtain any more IT equipment. Andrew made contact with SSE and Keadby 2 and before we knew it, an amazing donation of £1,000 was promised!

“For our school, this really means so much, as we will now purchase a further 5 Chromebooks that the children will use day in and day out in lessons. Our aim is that all the children in school will have a Chromebook each, so this donation will go a great way towards achieving that goal.

"Thanks to both Andrew and Jade for making their visit so special this morning and helping to not only change but to enhance the learning of a few more children from Reedness Primary school!

“Thanks again Jade and Andrew!!"

SSE Thermal Stakeholder Manager, Jade Fearon, added, "Making a difference to the communities around our sites is of huge importance to SSE Thermal, as such I’m delighted that the Keadby 2 project were able to provide this funding which I hope will support the students as they progress through the school."
