Andrew has received the following update from the Environment Agency (EA) regarding Roxby Landfill.
The EA have explained that they continue to effectively liaise with Biffa at Roxby via virtual meetings. The EA receive regular operational updates and Biffa continue to update the community with weekly updates.
Odour reports received by the Environment Agency have reduced in May, and they continue to notify Biffa of all reports received to undertake an investigation and review.
Landfilling has now commenced in Phase 12 at Roxby in the north-east corner. Biffa has already installed gas collection infrastructure in the phase to collect and manage landfill gas and minimise landfill gas and waste odours.
Biffa has advised the current capping programme is now complete. The Construction Quality Assurance Report for the permanent capping has been received and the EA are currently reviewing the submission.
The Construction Quality Assurance Report for the recent installation of 29 permanent deep gas wells, has been received and accepted by the Environment Agency.
The Environment Agency continues to update the community with a monthly update and has provided the group with a Landfill FAQ which is available to anyone requesting a copy – please contact LNenquiries@environment-agency.gov.uk if you would like a copy.
The EA continue to correspond with Andrew Percy MP, and Andrew continues to update his webpages and Facebook account.
The Environment Agency has commenced a formal investigation following the increase of odour reports. Their enforcement response is yet to be determined.
