PM Visits Siemens Rail Factory Site at Goole 36

Andrew joined Prime Minister Boris Johnson for a visit to the new Siemens rail factory site at Goole 36 this morning. In addition, Andrew was joined by local councillors (from left to right in the photo) Anne Handley, Liz Sargeantson, Caroline Fox, Nick Coultish, David Jeffreys and Barbara Jeffreys.

Following the visit, Andrew said, "Great to welcome the Prime Minister to Goole this morning to visit the new Siemens rail factory site at Goole 36. The Prime Minister met with some of the new apprentices taken on by Siemens, including two from our area (Goole and Snaith)

"This site of course was developed thanks to funding from the Government, which I lobbied hard for, and the project recently received agreement for some further funding from the Government.

"It has the potential to make a real difference to our community and to the lives of local people. Getting the PM here helps to put this project and our town on the map.

"Since the original announcement, the project, and plans at Goole, have extended with Siemens teaming up with the University of Birmingham and the East Riding Council to also construct a new Innovation Centre in Goole too. We will become a real rail village!

"There are going to be hundreds of direct jobs created here and thousands more supported in the construction and supply chain.

"Now more than ever, we need this sort of investment, but this is only the start of what we have planned for Goole.

"Social distancing rules did of course make the visit quite a challenge and makes for some funny photos but I've done my best."
