PM Meeting on Steel Industry

Andrew has provided an update on a recent meeting with the Prime Minister to discuss the steel industry.

Andrew explains on his Facebook page: "I did my first in person meeting on Thursday since my recent op. Thanks to my neighbour Holly Mumby-Croft for wheeling me up Downing Street in my wheelchair for the meeting with the PM to discuss the steel industry. Embarrassingly, our efforts to get the wheelchair up on the pavement outside Number 10 were caught live on air by Sky News!

"Anyways, I couldn't miss out on the opportunity to get in front of the PM with Holly and Martin Vickers MP to discuss the current challenges facing the steel industry across the world as we are hit by a surge in global energy prices.

"The PM, more than any other PM I've dealt with, gets just how vital steel is strategically for the UK and he understands how central our area is to that. We had a good discussion about the challenges, especially the current surge in energy prices which is a huge concern for the sector.

"We will continue pushing the case and working with the PM and others to try to address these considerable issues."
