Old Goole Social Club Benefits from £6000 Investment

Andrew visited Old Goole Social Club last Friday to celebrate another funding success Andrew and his team worked to secure for the Goole area. The funding was secured thanks to support from the 'Bid Writing Service' Andrew runs locally to help support good causes across the constituency.

This time Old Goole Social Club has benefited from £5,626 through the Goole Field Wind Farm Community fund with remaining funds coming from club finances and contributions from local club supporters. The funding has been used to refurbish the King Redman Room by redecorating and installing new flooring, extending seating capacity and promoting the club with new signage.

Formerly known as the Working Men’s Club, the premises on Swinefleet Road in Old Goole have been a community meeting place for over 100 years. The club is well used and they are keen to use the new facilities to support community groups and to encourage local residents to meet old and new friends. Membership is available for £5 and there is an initial joining fee of £10.

Mandy O’Brien, on behalf of the club,

“Many thanks on behalf of the club and committee to Andrew and Julie Reed from his office for helping acquire the wind farm grant to refurb the King Red Man room and purchase new signs. In future we are hoping the changes will encourage people to use the facilities and that the club will become the hub of the community”.

Andrew said,

“My team have worked hard for some months to secure this funding and it’s great to see how this investment has made a difference to the club. Old Goole deserves to have a first class community facility and this investment will now help residents to access social activities in a modern, refurbished setting. Over many years the club and its volunteers and staff have worked hard to offer local people a place to meet, and a venue for family events. The club is an important part of the Old Goole community and we will be continuing to look for other support for the club.

“Currently my team are working with over 30 groups across the Brigg and Goole constituency, helping to secure funding for a number of important community projects. If you need help or advice with a project please contact my Goole office on 767969.”
