A further new police community support officer has been employed on the Isle, following funding received from North Lincolnshire Council. The new PCSO, Michelle Thorley, will be located in Epworth and will serve the whole of the Isle of Axholme. Funding has been secured as part of a £250,000 budget agreed in March.
Andrew says, "I must commend the Council for funding another new PCSO post, this is exactly the type of initiative that the Council should be investing in. We need to make sure that our communities feel safe and visible policing is an important part of that. It is good to see the Council is responding to resident concerns. It just proves what can be achieved in these financially difficult times when budgets are managed prudently."
Axholme Central Cllr Liz Redfern comments, "We are committed to delivering a safer Isle of Axholme. When we took control of the Council, community safety was a very low priority unless you lived in Scunthorpe. I'm sure that Michelle will be a great asset to the Isle policing team and I look forward to seeing her on the beat in November. We are continuing our programme of cutting waste at the Council, as a result we have been able to fund this extra front line post."
