New Drainage Dyke for Goole?

Andrew recently met with a representative of the Goole and Airmyn Drainage Board to discuss drainage in the Ivy Park area of Goole. The site meeting was organised after residents raised the prospect of what appears to be a disused drainage dyke, being re-opened to better protect them from flooding. A number of streets in this area were heavily flooded in the 2013 floods.

Andrew reports, "I had a really productive meeting and hope that the Drainage Board will be able to progress this proposal. It appears that there is a filled in drainage dyke here that connects into a much wider drain that could flow into the Drainage Board's system relatively easily. The engineer I met with has promised to put some proposals before the Board for further discussion. Hopefully, Councillors who sit on the Board will be able to progress the idea too."
