Andrew is encouraging Isle residents to take part in a survey on designating the Isle of Axholme as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
Andrew explains, "Myself and the Isle's 6 Conservative Councillors recently met to try to secure a designation for the Isle of Axholme as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). This will provide us with enhanced protections for our environment and our ecosystems on the Isle and strengthen our hand against inappropriate development. The Isle has a very unique history due to the historic strip farming and drainage systems which created what we know and love today as the Isle. In recent years, myself and the local Conservative team have tried to enhance and protect the environment and character of the Isle by projects such as the Nature Reserve at Belton, developing the Isle of Axholme Greenway, the Peatlands Railway Project and Visitor Centre, environmental grants and of course by the creation of the Isle of Axholme Flag and the signs welcoming folks to the Isle.
