Goole Market Hall Renovation Works and Goole Town Deal Update

Andrew has provided the following update on the Goole Market Hall renovation works, along with a general update on the Goole Town Deal's progress.

Andrew reports:

As residents may have seen in Goole Times last week, work has started on the repair and maintenance of the Market Hall in Goole.

This is thanks to advanced funding from the Conservative Government for the Goole Town Deal. The £190,000 funding for the phase one renovation works will help protect and preserve the Market Hall building from further deterioration. Phase two works will include interior improvements to the commercial floor space and the energy efficiency enhancement of the building.

These improvement works come as part of a wider £750,000 of accelerated funding from the Government’s Town Deal process. This will include £300,000 upgrade to the Oakhill Nature Reserve, leisure and park improvements, and also funding for Victoria Pleasure Ground.

The Town Deal Board has also now completed its project bid to unlock the up £25 million funding for the town. These projects will include more substantial works for the Market Hall to hopefully bring it back into use, plus a range of other projects including town centre regeneration, improved travel links, flood defences, and leisure improvements. We hope to know by Spring how much of the up to £25 million we’ve been awarded.

As always, I will be sure to keep residents posted.
