Local charities and good causes in the Goole area have benefited thanks to a generous donation of £15,000 from Sterling Capitol, who are one of the partners in the Junction 36 development. The company previously developed the Guardian Glass and Tesco Distribution sites, which helped to bring thousands of jobs to the local area.
Sterling Capitol recently approached local MP, Andrew Percy, asking for assistance in distributing £15,000 in donations to local good causes in the broader Goole area. The company wanted to provide much needed funding to local good causes in light of the unprecedented impact of the Covid-19 outbreak.
As a result, 10 good causes in the town are set to receive a share of this pot, including Home Start, the Victoria Pleasure Grounds, the Helping Others charity, the YMCA, Green Team and Friends of Old Goole.
Many of these local groups are continuing to help residents at this exceptional time or have been seriously impacted by Covid-19. Also receiving support are groups helping to provide food to residents at this time including the new Two Rivers Food Bank, which covers the Goole and Snaith area, as well as the Incredible Edible Group in the Marshlands.
Andrew Percy MP says, “I was delighted to be approached by Sterling Capitol and thank Sir Bob Murray CBE and his company for their generosity at this difficult time. The company have also agreed to cover the upgrade of the public access life-saving community defibrillator which is located at my office as part of this funding and I thank them for that.”

Times are difficult times for individuals, families, businesses and local groups, which also play an important role in our community.
“At Sterling Capitol, we believe we also have a role to play in supporting our local community and helping to power our recovery at the right time - and wanted to share a little kindness of our own.”
Andrew Percy continued, “Many community groups are seeing a substantial drop in income or fundraising at this time and so boosts such as this are greatly appreciated. In addition to this funding, the bid writing service I run from my office is continuing to support community groups with funding bids. So far, I have helped secured over £1 million of funding for local good causes, including recently funding for the Old Goole Working Men’s Club.
