Flooded Properties Council Tax Relief

Andrew has provided the following update on Council Tax relief for properties impacted by the recent flooding.

Andrew explains, "Residents may remember that I wrote to East Riding Council following the announcement that flooded homes and business properties would receive three months Council Tax relief. I asked for an assurance that this would be expanded. I am pleased to report that East Riding Council have now confirmed to me that after that 3 month period, the relief will be extended until the properties are returned to a habitable state.

"I also asked the Council to assure me that they would recover the costs incurred by Snaith Priory and Snaith Sports Hall for the amazing support they provided to residents. The Council have confirmed to me that they intend to 'reimburse in full their costs in this regard'. In turn the Government will be reimbursing the East Riding for much of their costs through the Bellwin Scheme.

"The Council will also be managing the up to £5000 we are providing as a Government to flooded homes to incorporate flood resilience measures as part of the recovery works.

"Remember, if you have videos and pictures to share with the Council on the flooding please share it via the email address below which is different to the one the Council originally told us and which I included in my recent letter to residents. flooding.information@eastriding.gov.uk"
