Dragonby Energy Efficiency Works

Andrew visited Dragonby recently to see the work being undertaken to 11 properties in the village to improve energy efficiency. Andrew helped to secure £24k of funding for the project which is costing £90k in total. The scheme is providing external insulation and new heating systems to 11 homes in the first phase, and is funded jointly by the North Lincs Council, the ECO scheme and the Bagmoor wind farm community fund.

Andrew explains, "I am delighted that myself and local Councillors, Ivan Glover and Arthur Bunyan wrestled back this wind farm funding for the community of Dragonby. I now chair the group which is to determine how the Dragonby wind farm money is to be spent for the benefit of Dragonby. In discussions with residents we agreed that this money should be used to improve energy efficiency measures in the village.

"With many residents in single skin properties and still reliant on coal fires, this seemed the correct thing to do. The money is available every year so we hope this is just the start of this project. Dragonby has often been described as the 'forgotten village', not any more and we are really pleased to have played a role in this great project."
