Broughton and Brigg GP Visit

Andrew recently joined Cllr Rob Waltham for a meeting with Riverside Surgery at both their Broughton and Brigg sites.

Andrew explains, "This was an opportunity to tour the new facilities at Broughton and to see the building work taking place at the Brigg site at the moment.

"The new Broughton facilities are much improved and will be a welcome improvement for patients. At Brigg, the surgery is expanding the site considerably to build a new theatre which will be capable of performing surgery on site.

"The hope is that more and more procedures can be performed locally without the need for patients to travel to hospital. The practice are already in discussions with other parts of the health system looking at what could be done in the new theatre, including the treatment of skin cancer.

"The NHS has provided over £1 million for the works at Brigg and about £400k for the work at Broughton.

"We also discussed the current Covid-19 regulations and the way in which appointments have had to move online or over the telephone. For some this is frustrating, but in other cases it is proving successful. The key once Covid-19 is over will be striking a new balance in how we access our GPs in the future."
