Andrew welcomes NHS funding boost

Andrew has welcomed an announcement by NHS England of a funding boost for the East Riding of Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs). Over the next two years the CCGs will receive an extra £30m between them, including money for the Better Care Fund, which has been set up to integrate health and social care.

The Conservative-led Government is protecting NHS spending, despite inheriting a huge budget deficit from the previous government. In sharp contrast, Labour-run Wales has implemented NHS cuts.

Andrew says, “The Government are following through with their commitment to protect the NHS from spending reductions, even with the difficult financial circumstances we inherited.

“People are living much longer and have ever more complex clinical needs, that’s why it’s important that we build a health and social care system that is able to meet that need.”
