4R and Snaith Housing Update

Andrew has provided resident with the following updates on the 4R waste facility at Swinefleet and on housing plans in Snaith.

4R

With regards to the 4R waste facility at Swinefleet which recently secured planning permission, myself, local Councillors and the campaign group have held a number of meetings recently with interested parties as we try to frustrate the execution of this planning permission.

We have held two meetings this week with other agencies or businesses impacted by the development so that we could express our concerns and to alert them to the impact we think this development will have on them. As I have explained before, before the development can commence there are a number of conditions or other agreements that have to be concluded. The fight continues!

Snaith Housing Plans

I have written to residents a number of times regarding proposals by Bellway Homes for 535 new houses in Snaith and 300 by a different developer, Gladman Homes.

Residents might be interested to learn that Bellway are no longer proposing to build 535 homes but instead inform me they will seek to develop up to about 180 homes instead. Some of this would be on land designated already for housing but some of it would not be.

Land that has already been allocated for housing is more difficult to oppose but the remaining allocated land in Snaith is quite small and there is no discernible demand for much more beyond what is allocated, given the recent number of new homes.

So, the abandonment of the 535 homes plan by Bellway is welcome, but we shall have to wait and see what they come up with in relation to their other plans. So far, no plans have been submitted by either Bellway or Gladman for planning approval. Myself and local Councillors, Caroline Fox and Liz Sargeantson, will continue to keep residents updated.
