![]() Last Friday I visited St Joseph's RC Primary School in Goole and Epworth Primary School.
I was given a tour of Epworth Primary by the headteacher, Mr Hodgkins, before attending a meeting of the Student Council. The Council is made up of representatives from each class and on this occasion had met to discuss the sponsorship of a child from a developing country. They also held a question and answer session with me which included questions about what I do as an MP and what changes had been made locally. I was invited to St Josephs by the headteacher, Mrs Marten, who showed me around. It was my first visit to the school and I was made to feel very welcome. I spoke to the school about how I became and MP and encouraged pupils to always aspire to do their very best and to always aim high. I was really impressed for a Friday afternoon just how engaged pupils were during the assembly. I also spent some time with Year 6 pupils who wanted to ask me about what I do as an MP and how Parliament works. They already seemed to know quite a bit about Parliament and the questions they asked were very insightful indeed. Some of them also told me they were budding politicians which could provide me with a problem in a few years time! Photos are myself, Mrs Marten and some of the pupils from St Joseph’s RC Primary School and myself and some of the pupils from Epworth Primary School.
