About Brigg & Goole
The Parliamentary Constituency of Brigg & Goole finds itself partly in Lincolnshire and partly in East Yorkshire. It is predominately served by the unitary authority of
North Lincolnshire (65%), the remainder by the East Riding of Yorkshire
unitary authority.
To the East of the constituency are found the low villages of the Vale of Ancholme and the market town of Brigg. To the South, on the Isle of Axholme, is the historic town of Epworth, home of the Wesleys and further South is Haxey, venue of the Haxey Hood. To the North of the constituency is Goole, the busiest inland port in the country. To the North West is Gowdall, Pollington & Snaith.
The main industry is agriculture, with the exception of Goole where the port dominates. As the steel town of Scunthorpe is surrounded by Brigg & Goole it has major influence on many parts of the constituency.
